About the manager: 

Gresham House is a specialist alternative asset management group managing £8.8bn of assets (as at 30 June 2024) across a range of investment strategies, with expertise covering public and private equity, forestry and natural capital, sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, battery energy storage and real estate.


Gresham House Asset Management is investment manager to the Baronsmead VCTS and investment adviser to the Mobeus VCTs.


Gresham House’s experienced VCT team, including c.30 investment professionals, is responsible for all aspects of portfolio management and investment strategy for the VCTs.


The team is led by Trevor Hope, Chief Investment Officer (Private Equity), and Ken Wotton, Managing Director (Public Equity). Together, the team oversees over £800 million across the Mobeus and Baronsmead VCTs (June 2024), and is the second largest manager/adviser in the VCT market.

Investment focus: 

Baronsmead VCTs: The Baronsmead VCTs support the future of British businesses by investing in innovative smaller companies through tax-efficient listed venture capital trusts.


They typically invest in unquoted as well as AIM-traded businesses in the emerging or early-stage of their growth cycle.


Mobeus VCTs: The Mobeus VCTs invest in a diversified portfolio of unquoted UK companies, looking to drive growth.


Gresham House Renewable Energy VCTs: The Renewable Energy VCTs are managed jointly and are invested in a portfolio of unquoted companies that specialise in long-term renewable energy projects and energy developers. The VCTs’ current stated objective is to effect the realisation of its assets to return value to shareholders.
